Our school is a county-wide magnet focused on scholastic rigor
and excellence. The mission is to challenge each student, teacher, and parent
with high academic expectations. Centrally-located and serving approximately 600
students, AMHS provides a close-knit learning environment that prepares young
adults for college and develops self-esteem.
AMHS students are encouraged to be citizens of the world,
cultivate a respect for cultural diversity, and acquire a sense of global

In addition to academics, AMHS offers many choices in sports,
from football and basketball to lacrosse and crew. But if your extra-curricular
interests don't lie in sports, we have over 50 clubs for you to choose from,
offering everything from baking to dance to chess and lots more!
We moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in 2010 and
share this campus with another magnet school, The School of the Arts. Our
campus houses a cafeteria with wi-fi access, a 600 seat auditorium and 200 seat
lecture hall, and a media center with 3 computer labs.
