FAQ'S

ARRIVAL
:

Carpool information:   On arriving to AMHS, Student Drivers are in the LEFT lane.  Drop off is in the RIGHT lane.  Be mindful that SOA students are in line, so the drop off for ALL students is in front of the Performing Arts Auditorium. Drive past our school, both SOA schools and down to the auditorium.

1stPeriod                         8:30-10:00

2ndPeriod                       10:05-11:35

3rdPeriod                        11:45-1:15

Lunch                             1:15-1:55

4thPeriod                         2:00-3:30

COMMUNITY SERVICE:

Every AMHS student is required to have 30 hours of Community Service EACH year.  It is highly suggested to have your student perform Community Service in the summer or all year long.  The form is under the AMHS Guidance Tab and is to be filled out and given to your Focus Teacher BEFORE May 1, 2018.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Each student is also required to read 6-8 books and turn in a RAD Reading Log to their Focus Teacher each year.  More information about RAD and the forms are listed under the "Students" tab on the home page.

Every AMHS student will complete a Senior Thesis in order to graduate.  The Senior Thesis handbook is posted on the website under the "Students" tab.

Every AMHS student will complete at least 4 AP credits to graduate. A Program of Studies is listed under the "Students" tab.

GUIDANCE:

If your last name begins with A-H, your Guidance Counselor is Ms. Taylor

If your last name begins with I-R, your Guidance Counselor is Ms. Bearden

If your last name begins with S-Z, your Guidance Counselor is Ms. Ware

SPORTS:

Fall Sport contacts for Football, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Cross Country, Swim Team, Crew.....are all on the main AMHS website.  Contact your team this summer to find our information on summer practice and requirements.

MEDIA CENTER: 

The media center is open Monday - Thursday from 7:30am - 5:30pm; on Fridays, 7:30am-4:00pm.  There are times when the library will have to close early for meetings and that information will be posted on the library doors.  Students may come to the library before and after school and during lunch without a pass.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS:

There are several opportunities for parents to volunteer for AMHS.  Please visit the PIE (Partners in Education) website.

You can email committee chairperson for details and to volunteer.

There also are opportunities to donate to AMHS.  501C status for tax exemption.

ACADEMIC MAGNET FOUNDATION

If you would like to attend the AMF board meetings, dates and times are listed on the school calendar.  The board meets on Mondays in the Media Center conference room and the meetings are open to the public.
