A.P. European History

The AP European History course focuses on developing students’ understanding of European history from approximately 1450 to the present. The course has students investigate the content of European history for significant events, individuals, developments, and processes. Historical thinking skills are addressed in this course. They are:

1. Analyzing Evidence: Content and Sourcing
2. Interpretation
II. Making Historical Connections
3. Comparison
4. Contextualization
5. Synthesis
II. Chronological Reasoning
6. Causation
7. Patterns of Continuity and Change over Time
8. Periodization
III. Creating and Supporting a Historical Argument
9. Argumentation

Each topic will be a unit of study and will include a variety of student assessments such as free responses questions, multiple choice tests, quizzes, and a unit project or activity designed to reinforce a major topic from the unit. A midterm will be given in January at the end of the second quarter and an AP exam review will take place a week before the AP exam.
