STUDENTS: CLASS RESOURCES CAN NOW BE FOUND ON MY GOOGLE CLASSROOM. First, the pronunciation of my last name is Ga-lit-sa. J I graduated from the College of Charleston with a BS in Elementary Education and went straight to the Citadel for my Masters is Teaching Secondary Social Studies. I had discovered in college how fascinating the study of history can be and wanted to share my discovery with middle and high school students. 13 years later, I still want to help students discover how relative, fascinating, and sometimes unbelievable history can be! As I lead them through the time periods, I want to have enlightening discussions with them that help us all better understand the connection between the past, present, and future. I believe teachers can learn from their students; I love nothing more than a student expressing a point I have never thought of or heard before.

I strive to build a positive classroom environment where students feel comfortable to share their thoughts, and I teach that all opinions should be respected even if they are different from one’s own. We can get along and respect each other even if our opinions don’t always match. I have found that when students express positive attitudes and show respect and understanding for themselves, the teacher, and their peers, the level of discussion that can be achieved is incredible.. As their teacher and role model, I always show all students consideration and respect. Simply stated, I treat my students how I want my daughter to be treated by her teachers. Both in and out of the classroom, I am here to support all students as they travel the road from adolescence to adulthood.
